Roti Canai Recipe: How to Cook?


  • 200 grams of high protein flour
  • 50 grams of medium protein flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 150 ml of liquid milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 30 grams of butter (melted for the mixture)
  • 20 gr butter (melted to spread)
  • vegetable oil

  • Prepare all ingredients
  • Combine all the flour, sugar, salt and egg yolk. Stir well until combined and the dough feels chewy.
  • Enter the melted butter and stir until smooth and the dough is combined.
  • When it is completely combined, form a round shape and divide into 8 parts, then each part is formed into a small circle.
  • Dip the dough that has been shaped like a small circle in the vegetable oil. Place on tray / baking sheet. Wrap in plastic wrap and let stand for 30 minutes.
  • Take the dough, put it on a tray and roll it thinly with a roller. Brush with melted butter, and cut lengthwise.
  • Roll from bottom to top, then pull and roll again to form a bun. Press by hand until it is flat and slightly wider.
  • Prepare a frying pan for baking. Grease a little butter and toast the roti canai over low heat so it doesn't burn, while turning.
  • If it is brownish, remove from heat and ready to be served with spread according to taste. Can use sweetened condensed milk, cheese, chocolate or other toppings.
