Chana Masala Recipe

Chana Masala Recipe


  • 1 can of 400grams chickpeas (I use the blue brand Tandao)
  • 1.5 Small chopped onions
  • 3 Garlic cloves mashed / grated
  • 2 Chopped ripe tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder / fresh turmeric is burned first then grated
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 pieces of green bird's eye chilies / according to taste
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Sufficiently chopped cilantro
  • Oil
  • 500 ml of water

  • Heat a lot of oil, saute the onions until fragrant and browned. 
  • Add chopped tomatoes, mix well until everything is wilted and soft. 
  • Add turmeric powder / grated, chili powder, garlic, chopped chilies, and salt. Stir well.
  • Add 100ml of water, mix well. Cook for about five minutes, stirring occasionally. 
  • After that, enter the chickpeas (chana), stir well. Add 400ml of water. Stir again. Add the cumin powder. 
  • Cook for 15 to 20 minutes so that the spices are absorbed and the water has subsided slightly. Add chopped cilantro, mix well. 
  • Then taste test, remove and serve.
